Happy 1 year Emily and John!

Before I share a recap of the year that Emily sent to me, I just thought I would share her proposal pictures she emailed to me way back when!!!   =)

"One year ago was the happiest moment in my life; I got married to a caring, understanding, and lovable man. The moment we first saw Casa Marina we knew it was “The Place”. We traveled from Orlando to Jacksonville Beach to have our wedding as we always pictured it beachside. Family flew in from all over the country to be there to support us on our special day. Different family members contributed to our wedding since they knew John and I came up with most of the money towards our wedding ourselves. My sister in law made my invitations and one of her good friend gave us a wonderful deal on the most striking flowers I have set my eyes on. My aunt and uncle made our wedding cake more beautiful than I pictured it to be, a family friend played the guitar as the bridal party walked down the isle, my uncle married us, and a friend of ours was the DJ for the reception. My mom was a lifesaver, she was very dedicated and worked hard on many projects such as my centerpieces, bought my wedding dress, and was by my side on many projects and ideas. I could not have planned the wedding with out her and I am very grateful.  Our wedding was so special because of all the love and support I had from all my family members. We can never thank our parents enough for their love and support they gave us! Our wedding was amazing and Tonya was able to capture every moment of our fantastic day with her talented photography skills.

John and I had dated for almost 4 years before getting married. Our first year of marriage was challenging since I had lost my job a couple months before our wedding. I started looking for jobs the minute we got back from our honeymoon in Costa Rica. I was lucky enough to find a job just 2 weeks after our honeymoon. I was working a full time job and going to school full time to complete my bachelor degree. My husband John was very supportive and understood I could not always go out due to my busy schedule. We sacrificed a lot of time together but still managed to find time for one another with date nights and planning in advance to set time aside for one another. I lost my job after 8 months due to the economy and began looking immediately. I dealt with stress of looking for a new job but John always kept his head up and believed I would find something soon. I was out of work about 3 weeks before and I got a call that I received the position I interviewed for. I am happy to say that I am now working at a job that I love, have completed my degree, and celebrated my 1 year anniversary with the most supportive man ever.

John and I went to Hollywood Beach in South Florida to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We spent a lot of time reminiscing on our wedding day and how fast time has flown by. We had a busy weekend which included and amazing Cuban dinner, visiting The Seminole Hard Rock Casino, listening to Reggae poolside, dancing on the tables at Taverna Opa a Greek Restaurant, playing games at Dave and Busters, and walking on the beach. I am so fortunate to have the love from my husband, family, and friends. John and I hope to start trying for a family within a year or so. I couldn’t be happier and I consider myself a very lucky girl!" - Emily
